Rob wins Creative Photography Trophy
Rob’s image Welcome to the Dark Side was recently voted first place in Conwy Camera Club’s Creative Annual Creative competition. The competition was established in memory of Lionel Bloodworth, who died in 2013 after transmitting his enthusiasm for creative photography to fellow club members by initiating the Creative Special Interest Group.
Unlike other club competitions which are assessed by an external judge, the winning image is decided on the basis of a majority vote by other club members. The image is Rob’s homage to Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’. The model, Karl, had already been a Stormtrooper model at a Conwy CC workshop evening, and he agreed to spend a day in our home studio recreating the same poses as depicted in Leonardo’s painting. 'The Dark Lord' was a model of Darth Vadar that Karl owned. In a nod to the cinematic origins of Star Wars, the food on the table comprises snacks that can be purchased in a movie theatre! It was a fun day shooting the initial images, and then many hours of post-production fitting the individual photos all together: a bit like a complicated jigsaw.
The photo shows Rob being presented with his award by Bob Gresty, Chairman of Conwy Camera Club
