Live Workshop: Portrait Masterclass

Live Workshop: Portrait Masterclass

We offer a “live” group workshop to camera clubs. This is entitled “Portrait Masterclass” and runs from 11am – 4pm.

The Portrait Masterclass workshop is designed for 12 delegates, and will begin with a “Mastering Portrait Lighting” demonstration of how to achieve soft, painterly lighting effects using studio lights and modifiers. Delegates will then divide into two groups of six photographers, giving them the opportunity to take photos of two character models. Each model will have a costume and props change allowing each delegate the opportunity to shoot four different character portraits. There will then be a presentation on “Post- Processing for Portraiture” with a live demonstration working with examples from the images taken during the day.

The organisers will supply all lights, backdrops, costumes and props. No prior knowledge of flash photography is necessary, as all techniques will be explained on the day. Delegates will, however, need to be familiar with their own camera settings, as we will be shooting in manual. In particular, delegates will need to be familiar with how to change shutter speed, aperture and ISO values without assistance.

The tutors on the day will be Sharon and Rob Prenton Jones. There will be a short lunch break from 12.30 – 1.00pm, and delegates are asked to supply their own lunch/refreshments. Whatever the level of existing skill, we hope that every delegate will learn new skills, and will have a fun and enjoyable day.

The cost for this Workshop is £125 plus the PAGB rate of 45p per mile travel expenses. B&B and evening meals may also be charged depending on the distance we travel. Several camera clubs have asked us to give a workshop on one day and a club talk the following or previous evening which gives them better value for money.

We are happy to discuss arrangements as obviously the details will be different for each club. In the first instance, please contact us either by phone (01492 532185) or by sending us a message via our contact form.
